Hi, I'm Pere Nolasc!
I've been playing the violin, viola, and five-string fiddle since my childhood, and I love performing music with other artists.
Feel free to have a look at my website if you'd like to get a glimpse of my day-to-day life :)

Grandpa’s violin and eyes wide open
If there’s one word that defines me, it’s enthusiasm. Music has been a constant companion throughout my life. From an early age, I would listen to my grandfather play, and they say my eyes would go wide with wonder every time. That experience sparked a deep fascination with the power of music to stir emotion. Since then, music has never stopped playing inside me—like a radio I can never switch off.
The violin has been my bridge between my inner world and the stage, between what I imagine and what I share with others. My grandfather used to tell me stories about Paganini, a legendary violinist surrounded by mystery and magic, and that tale marked the beginning of my own musical journey.
I see myself as a versatile musician with strong roots in classical music—trained in violin and viola at ESMUC, the Conservatori del Liceu, and the Koninklijk Conservatorium—and a path deeply connected to jazz and world music. I’ve developed a personal musical language that speaks across traditions, offering a humanistic perspective that both refines folk music and brings a fresh voice to the classical.
I’ve had the privilege of learning from and being inspired by exceptional artists who have shaped my understanding of music—combining technical precision with creative freedom. With a Master’s degree in jazz violin and formal training in violin and viola, my journey has also grown through teaching.
As a full-time professor at the Conservatori del Liceu and EMMCA (Municipal School of Music – Centre for the Arts in L’Hospitalet), and through masterclasses in Spain, Brazil, and China, I’ve shared knowledge with a new generation of musicians. I’ve been a guest teacher at international events and courses such as the Barcelona Fiddle Congress, Crisol de Cuerda, the International Course of Tarragona, Corda a la Mar, the ESMUC Pedagogy Days, and Improvisa! Salamanca. I’m the author of the book Impro Cuerdas (published by Enclave Creativa) and a certified IEM methodology teacher.
After 14 years of teaching, I’ve helped train string players with an integrated outlook—one that sees improvisation and composition as essential tools, promoting a joyful and healthy approach to the instrument without ever compromising on classical excellence.
Today, I combine my stage activity with international projects such as the Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, Bratia, and BRS Rock Strings, with whom I’ve performed in more than 32 countries and prestigious venues across Europe and Asia, including the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Atatürk Auditorium in Istanbul, Xi’an Concert Hall in China, Ankara Auditorium, and Lisinski Hall in Zagreb—highlighting tours through over twenty cities across China.
I’m also a founding member of BS Strings Events, a cultural initiative that organises tailor-made music for corporate and special events.
I’ve composed soundtracks and original pieces that reflect my experience across styles and genres. If you’d like to know more about my journey or listen to my work, I invite you to visit my website.

Pedagogy. The inner child
Cold hands, warm heart
If enthusiasm is what defines me as a performer, curiosity is what defines me as a teacher. It is the ability to transmit the fire of knowledge from generation to generation that makes this task seem most noble to me. I strive daily to keep the child inside me alive, and playing with the instrument, yes I said playing. It is one of the routines that helps me achieve this the most.
I have always valued the difference that a vocational teacher makes, one who teaches with passion and commitment. As a child, I had all kinds of experiences, and I believe that even a child can distinguish between someone who teaches from the heart and someone who simply puts in hours. This attitude is fundamental for authentic and meaningful learning.
I remember my first class as a student perfectly: it was 30 minutes that changed my life. The teacher, kind and gentle, won me over immediately. Suddenly, my hyperactivity and lack of concentration disappeared; my entire existence was centered on a piece of wood and four strings.
I have always had an easy time learning, and this allowed me to be unmethodical during my childhood. The problem came in my adolescence, when my lack of discipline and perseverance made me hit a ceiling that seemed impossible to overcome. That limit forced me to unlearn many things, and to incorporate new habits that allowed me to approach the repertoire from a more structured, less emotional and more efficient perspective.
After finishing my degree, I ventured into teaching violin and viola to teenagers. Each class was unique. I loved solving different situations and accompanying students in their learning process. Over time, I saw clearly that teaching would be a central part of my musical life.
My classes are fun, focused on the needs of the student, always putting them at the center of the work session. The goal is to enjoy the instrument, understanding that technical, vocabulary and repertoire improvements will come organically if they are accompanied by constant and focused work. I really like working on improvisation, as well as memory and ear, because I believe they are powerful tools for developing a deeper, creative and autonomous relationship with music. Regarding the repertoire, I always like to agree on it with the student; I often say: “we agree on the plan together, you set the speed”.
I work mainly with adult students. I find that there is a very big hole in the educational system, where age often works against me. My favorite profile is someone who left music years ago and now wants to take it up again. It is a meaningful return, which connects with their own history and which resonates very deeply with me, because it could have happened to me on more than one occasion.
To this day, I continue to learn in every class, every essay, every conversation with students and colleagues. I like to think that, beyond transmitting knowledge, what I do is share a path.

IEM Methodology
This methodology, developed by its founder Emilio Molina and his team of enthusiastic musicians and teachers over decades of teaching students ranging from children to higher education and universities, is based on the integral development of invention, imagination and creativity. It defends improvisation, understood as control of musical language, and conceives it as a pedagogical system. The IEM methodology includes specific methodological proposals for music education in all its areas and levels.

Let's talk!
I always love meeting other artists, potential students, or simply new music-loving friends.
Contact me to schedule a collaboration, class or masterclass, or for anything that comes to mind... the truth is that I get easily involved if the proposal motivates me.

Performing musician
Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra
With this band i'd started as a follower, simpy as a fan. In 2016 I was able to do my first concert with them and since then it has been one of the most exciting projects I have been lucky enough to be a part of. Their message represents to me, an intercultural dialogue beyond borders and cultures, a journey where you realize that xenophobia is an evil that is cured by traveling. With 40 countries behind them, 7 studio albums and having reached millions of people, bgko is one of the artistic vehicles that I consider most interesting in the current scene.
BRATIA
It is about the search for a pioneering, curious, and very, very magnetic aesthetic... Bratia aims to unite the richness and virtuosity of two worlds geographically separated but united by the same fire, by the same passion. On the one hand, the music of the Balkans, with influences of Slavic voices and Ottoman roots, added to Byzantine chants and on the other, the gypsy jazz popularized by the greats Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grapelli.
This is, being something new, a project that is difficult to categorize. Come, sit down. Have a good time, the party is about to begin!
BRS Rock Strings
Bcn Rock Strings arises from a personal need, that of interpreting one of my favorite music, Heavy Metal, with the sound that I like the most, the Classical cameratta. After many previous sketches we were able to find the sound with a luxury equipment, I leave you some videos of the quintet and the BRS orchestra
BSE Strings Events
The idea of Strings Events is to dignify the profession of musician in corporate events and weddings. I had my first wedding in 2002 and from that moment I realized the importance of music in the most special moments of life. If we look at the history of music we will see that even the great composers sought social functions beyond the concert experience itself. BSE offers artistic solutions for the most important moments of a family or company
Duet with Núria Conangla
Núria and I have been playing together for a long time, we are united by our interest in the stringed instrument in various styles, you can hear us in our concerts, from churches to auditoriums, passing through remote places in the Catalan geography.
Previous collaborations and projects
AEDOS
AEDOS was born from the desire to offer a reinterpretation of the concept of a classical concert. Inspired by the AEDES, artists from ancient Greece who memorized hours of myths and fables in order to thrill those around them. The concert offers a journey through 300 years of music from the Baroque to the present day, including classical music, film music, Broadway musicals, Celtic music, tango, Rock and Jazz Standards. The project was founded in 2006 by Josep-Oriol Miró.
Lalo Lopez
Lalo Lopez has been one of the leading figures in Soul, Funk, Disco and Rhythm & Blues on the Laietana scene for decades. As an essential element of the FTM, he has moved us all at some point in our lives. It is a privilege to be able to collaborate with him both in his "Limited Orchestra" and in the "Soul Party"
Rambalaya
There are groups that you like, others that excite you more, but Rambalaya grabs you and doesn't let you go. Here's a version of Only in my dreams, a ballad for any time of day or night.
aupaQUARTET
With aupaQUARTET, there were years of great creativity, concerts in various stages in Spain, Europe, China and Brazil. With them we were able to investigate the repertoire and arrangements of modern quartet inspired by great figures such as Turtle Island String Quartet, Zapp Quartet or the close and friendly Virus String Quartet from Barcelona. I was there from 2015 to 2022.
On the way
A friend told me years ago; "You have to go to yours... and the more you go to yours, the more people you will meet, who also go to theirs... If he was right!!!
